VIEW (Vancouver Image Exploration Workshop) was a group of artists and photographers who sought to bring the world of creative photography to the people of Vancouver during the 1970's. Throughout the 70's VIEW introduced Vancouver to the renouned photographers of the time– Ralph Gibson, Judy Dater, Duane Michaels, Robert Minden and most notably Eugene Smith.

In 1980 VIEW set out on a new venture, Viewspace, an exhibition storefront at West 16th Avenue and Dunbar Street in Vancouver that could be used as a venue for shows, workshops and meetings. Henri Robideau's Giant Things show was the first solo exhibition in the new space and was also the premiere for the new science of Gianthropology.
