2016 Movie ~

Beauchemin's Waltz

This sweet, evocative short film visits a group of friends at their late 1950's dance parties. A generation robbed of its youth by Depression and War delightfully rejuvenates itself, cutting a rug to the tune of Beauchemin's Waltz.

Loosely extracted from the tragic life of his fictional Franco-American uncle, accordionist Bonne Chance Beauchemin, Henri Robideau weaves this little dance movie entirely from fifty cents worth of digitized 8mm home movies found in a Salvation Army thrift store in 1980.

The world premiere of Beauchemin's Waltz  was August 23, 2016, at the Vancouver Art Gallery as part of the former CBC radio personality David Wisdom's annual legendary slide show.
